You are invited to a special night of music!
This house concert features three musical friends who will weave together their deep stylistic roots for a fresh take on some familiar songs.
Michael Wattie is a singer-songwriter who is steeped in folk music and has a massive collection of songs at the ready, including some original compositions. Mike’s warm vocals and impeccable guitar playing always connects with an audience, and a smaller, more intimate setting is where he really shines.
Steve Martin was musically raised on the classics: classical music and classic rock. Fluent on both electric guitar and bass, Steve loves to provide the harmonic and rhythmic foundations for the various musicians he plays with but isn’t shy about also tossing in some tasty solos as well.
Dave Renaud is also known as Dr. Jazz. With an immense jazz history and repertoire, Dave is one of Ottawa’s top woodwind players. Dave has regularly been hired to provide for the Orpheus Theatre productions, the NAC Pops concerts, and the Ottawa Jazz Orchestra. Dave also has a classical music background, and he and Steve know each other from their early days the Ottawa University Music Program. This house concert repertoire will be comprised of mostly familiar songs with a few fresh originals. But the uniqueness of the evening will be the melding of styles as each player brings what they do best to put in the musical mélange. Come expecting to hear what these talented and experienced performers can co-create as they bring decades of experience together for a special evening.
